Many aspiring yoga teachers think that in order to become a good yoga teacher they need to enroll in an in-person yoga teacher’s training program, and that an online course would simply not be effective. This though is not the case. Although there certainly are some advantages to an in-person yoga course, an online self-study program can be just as good. Moreover, an online course has many other advantages and in this article I will discuss these.
This is by far the biggest advantage of an online program as compared to one that in offered in a studio. The in-person programs usually cost thousands of dollars, while an online program’s cost will range from as low as $50 to $300. This difference is certainly not insignificant.
Such a cost savings can often be just the impetus you need in order to follow through on your desire to become a yoga teacher. After all if the program costs under $100, then it is certainly not a big risk to you financially. That is not to say that the program will be useless and you only lose $100, but what I am saying here is that since you are not risking thousands of dollars, you can feel comfortable about taking the plunge and following through on your intention of becoming a teacher.
Flexibility to Learn Yoga:
The next biggest advantage to an online teacher’s training program is that you can do the yoga lessons and yoga training at your convenience. There are very few people who will deny that life is getting more and more busy these days and that anything that allows a flexible schedule is god sent.
Today, when we have online shopping, remote offices, virtual assistants, virtual farms, we can certainly have a very good online yoga teacher training program.
This convenience of being able to practice in your home, at your own time and at your own pace, can often be the key to completing the training program and becoming a yoga teacher. Granted that this does takes some extra self discipline, self motivation and willpower, but if you have these qualities, then you will find an online program a great fit for you.
Extensive Yoga Training Material:
When you do an in-person yoga certification program, at most you will get a manual or two. This is because all the rest of the audio visual instruction is live. The best you can do is draw stick figures as fast as you can and take lots of notes. This is usually done in between practicing the poses and exercises.
The other option I have seen used, is that you can bring a tape recorder and attempt to record what the teacher is saying, but this tends to not be crisp and the class is certainly not tailored for recording. But good online yoga instructor training courses will have tons of material for you, including instructional videos and DVDs, and even MP3s and other audio instruction.
This is great to have as then you can review the material whenever you need and while you are learning, replay the instruction as often as needed. You wont need to buy additional yoga DVDs to supplement your training and you will have a good library of high quality yoga training material at your disposal whenever you require.
Advantages of Online Yoga Certification Programs Summary:
So you can see from the above, that an online training course has certain advantages over an in-person program that should not be overlooked. Being able to practice at your convenience and stopping and restarting if life gets in the way, saving thousands of dollars and having instant access to the teachings are all great benefits of an online program. So if you are interested in becoming a yoga teacher, do consider taking an online yoga training program seriously.
